RIP vSphere Web Client

If you have followed, the first web client known as vSphere Web Client that was used to replace the Windows Client (also known as C# Client) is coming to its end of support. Here is the article . As you know that in vSphere 6, the vSphere HTML5 client was introduced and also called vSphere Client or Clarity. As of vSphere 6.7, it has all its feature function on par with vSphere Web Client and on top of that, it does not have a dependency of using Adobe Flash. But why is that a problem? First, it is a dependency as Adobe Flash is not part of any OS and it has to be separately installed. Some customers do not have internet connection would face this challenge. Creating Nested ESXi in vSphere

Many of us always need to or want to do some testing for some solution using vSphere or preparing or some exams e.g. VCAP.  However sometimes you just didn't have enough resources or physical hosts.  Just like me I am running a home lab and would need 1 or 2 extra ESX servers if possible. I find documents around the internet and some are not really updated.  So here I have consolidated to help you better. First create a Virtual Machine (doesn't matter which OS you choose as you will not find any ESX server in the drop down list even if you choose Windows, Linux or Other). After creation, in vSphere Client, go to Edit Settings of the virtual machine.  Under Options tab, General Options change your OS.  Here you will find ESXi listed. For Web Client, please see screenshot below:  vSphere Client ...

vCenter 5.x using Oracle 11.2.0.3 Patch 10 or later

vCenter Server 5.x does not function correctly when installed with Oracle 11.2.0.3 Patch 10 or later. When creating a VM you receive the below error messsage: " An internal error occurred in the vSphere Client. Details: Object reference not set to an instance of an object." This is an alert been raised to customer using Oracle 11.2.0.3 for their vCenter database not to upgrade Oracle patch 10 or later to avoid any issues. If the customer has already upgraded and encountered this issue, the only option is to roll back to pre-patch backup versions of the database. There is currently no resolution.  You can refer to the KB below. http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2039874
