RIP vSphere Web Client

If you have followed, the first web client known as vSphere Web Client that was used to replace the Windows Client (also known as C# Client) is coming to its end of support. Here is the article.

As you know that in vSphere 6, the vSphere HTML5 client was introduced and also called vSphere Client or Clarity.

As of vSphere 6.7, it has all its feature function on par with vSphere Web Client and on top of that, it does not have a dependency of using Adobe Flash. But why is that a problem? First, it is a dependency as Adobe Flash is not part of any OS and it has to be separately installed. Some customers do not have internet connection would face this challenge. The second, we are able to download and install. However, it need to be constantly patched due to security and there are many security vulnerability of Adobe Flash that many companies are not willing to use it.

As Adobe Flash support will end Dec 2020 for all browsers, even though VMware is supporting vSphere 6.5/6.7 till Nov 2021, without Flash support the vSphere Web Client will cease it support. The right move is to start using the vSphere Client (HTML5) and update to the latest vCenter 6.7 or vSphere 6.7 to enjoy the full benefit of vSphere Client.
