First of all congrats to all vExpert 2025 announced . This year, there is some additional entitlement not made known to the community. I was surprised when I received the below email: And yes, you got it. All vExpert 2025 are given a year of VMUG Advantage entitlement. This includes a 50% one time certification fee and many more which you can find out more here . This is definitely an icing on the cake.

It the time of the year to apply and renew your vExpert for another year for your effort contribution back to the VMware community over the last 6-12months.  The vExpert 2025 application is now open starting from 6th Dec 2024 and will closed on 10th January 2025. So hurry start your application and fill up all your contribution. You do not have to do it once through, you can always save it in draft and add on and submit before the closing date. If you have doubt reach out or look for your vExpert Pro nearest to you to to advise you accordingly. This year has been a very different year for VMware. However, the vExpert program was valued and carry on. The perks this year been a vExpert will be very different from the investment from Broadcom.  Head over and sign up now. Good luck! I believe many would have wonder if the vExpert Program will continue since VMware has been acquired by Broadcom recently. I am glad to announce that Corey Romero the program manager for VMware vExpert is continuing the support for the program and this is also Broadcom is supportive of it community recognition. Just for information, VMware User Group is here to stay! For those who are not aware, the VMware vExpert 2024 application is now open. You can follow the post here . There are calls and multiple resources to help you out with your applications and explanation to the different path. Do take note you can fill in the form and save it and submit before 15 Dec 2023 closing date. So take your time to collect your thoughts on your contribution to the VMware community. For those who are not aware, the vExpert program application submission is opening soon on 13th December 2022. The new application system today allows one to apply and edit whatever and whenever they want and submit their application when the the submission period is open. All information will be saved in the system for your application. This is really great as you can record any activity as and when you have completed them or come to mind. This year the vExpert 2023 will closed on 13th Jan, 2023. Start filling up your community contributions  here . If you do not have an account just register one. The first round of application for vExpert 2022 has been announced . Congrats to all existing vExpert 2022.  For those who were vExpert 2021, you will notice, there is an one off extension to be granted vExpert 2022. I believe this is due to the COVID situation where contribution has been reduced. Do keep your community contribution going this year so as to renew for next year. The vExpert 2022 application going to start on 6th Dec 2021. This is the first round of the application cycle for vExpert 2022. Before you head over to apply, you might want to read my experience when I first applied to have the application complete. If you need some help, reach out to your nearest vExpert Pro . They will be more willing to assist and advise you accordingly. Now let's go into how been a vExpert makes a difference. I have been a vExpert over the last 10 years. It was not easy and doesn't just come by just because I am a VMware employee. So don't get the wrong idea, VMware employee needs to also apply and meet the requirements. There are people who have applied and rejected as they do not meet the requirements. There is no such benefit as a VMware employee. This program treats everyone all equal. The vExpert 2021 second half application is starting in June. If have missed out the first half at the beginning of the year, this is your last chance. To top it off this year, VMware vExpert program has create two groups, one is LinkedIn and one is Facebook for people who seek help in their application or looking for mentors to help achieve the vExpert accreditation. Alternatively you can approach your nearest vExpert Pro for advise as well. These are the people who will be assessing all the applications. If you are one of those, look no further and join those groups above. The announcement has been out. And this year there are 2100 vExperts around the world. If did not get it this time, look out for the comments and learn from what you have to do and work on it and apply for the next application in June 2021. This year also marked my 10th year as vExpert. Looking back this has not come easy to remain consistent contributing back to the community. Never did I or expect I can last 10th year. Did a check on my blogs and YouTube, it just crazy lots of content I have made thus far. Congrats to all vExpert 2021 once again. The annual vExpert program for 2021 will open its application once again. Application open: 21st Nov (US)  Closing date:  8th January 2021 Results will be announced on: 11th February 2021 (US). For those who have have gotten their vExpert accreditation  on the 2nd round application in 2021, will need to apply again. The application for VMware vExpert 2019 has now opened again! As usual, there will be two application period one at the beginning of the year and one in the mid of the year. For those who have missed the first time round, this is your last chance. VMware vExpert program is an accreditation given to an individual for their past year effort in contributing to the VMware community via multiple channels. This is a yearly accreditation and the application is open twice a year. The second application opening allows those who lack contribution to have at least 6 months more to prove themselves. I was fortunate to be appointed as a vExpert Pro with other professionals, we were tasked to assess the applications for vExpert 2019 based on past year, 2018, contribution. We have to go through thousands of applications and able to see some with great work while some fall short. This article is to provide some feedback based on my observation and hopefully, those who didn't make it can start improving your contribution when the next application comes in the middle of the year. Something new just starts out from VMware Palo Alto. There is a new twitter handler, VMware vExpert Pro . It just posted something a few hours ago. We know what is a vExpert program. If you do not do check out here . The vExpert came a long way from a general vExpert to now another three more tracks namely: vSAN, NSX, Cloud and now Pro. So what is really vExpert Pro? This is someone volunteered in the individual country as a vExpert recruiter. So how is the person been selected? A short requirement is as below: A current vExpert who excels in their local region, adding value to the program and giving back to the community. This person has a strong relationship with the local IT community in general, and works as an advocate to the vExpert program, recruiting, mentoring and training people. Just back from my company's Tech Summit and waiting for the announcement to be made. The very next day an email came in and the announcement was made here . Did a quick check on the list of candidates, there was a total of 1525 who made it this year. Congrats to everyone who made it this year. Am glad to be part of this community for the 7th year running since I started paying forward this blog, discussion group, videos, etc. For those who didn't make it or have not apply for it, do attempt it you never know when you are actually making your effort rewarded. Recently there was some discussion over licensing in Facebook vExpert group . One of the users questioned about licensing 3 hosts, each placed at one location. He wants to be able to do a snapshot and monitor the health of the ESXi host. He intends to add a fourth host in future. He was also told by the account executive that vSphere Essential cannot meet this requirement. Let me explain some of the information which might be not clear enough. vSphere Essential and Essential Plus kit is a bundle that comes with vCenter Server Essential (which is not available for sale) and vSphere Essential/Essential Plus licensing. ]vCenter Server Essential can only manage up to three ESXi servers. The vSphere Essential kit allows you to license up to 3 hosts or 6 CPUs whichever come first. But you cannot license more than 3 hosts even if each only has 1 CPU. Congrats to all vExpert 2017 announced earlier today here .  This year we have 1471 of vExperts.  This is growing year after year.  As stated, for those who signed up for it but was not granted this title, you may email vexpert@vmware.com to seek guidance what you are missing. As for those who have missed the application, you can watched out for it between May and June 2017. Am grad am still staying this accreditation since I started in 2012.  This marked my 6th year.  So for those who are just starting, good work.  For those who are retaining, there isn't much effort needed, all you got to do is pen down their knowledge for sharing or even just sharing it with a simple text in twitter or share a post.
