vSphere 6 Installation Experience

Previously I posted on my installation and upgrade of my vSphere 5.5 here .  Since each upgrade comes about a year or two that I perform, we ought to forget some important things.  So here is my experience. Before you start, head to the vSphere Upgrade Center .  Here you will find all the resources needed.  There is also a simple install walkthrough to guide you through with screenshots! 1) Read the documents on the requirements!  During the installation the vCenter requires at least 17GB of space to store the MSI and part of it the new Platform Service Controller (PSC) takes up 8GB install in the C:\ProgramData path.  Go through the requirements in the product documentation page . 2) Your DSN user in SQL for vCenter (vpxuser), needs to have additional rights for installation and upgrade but not during operations time. vSphere 5.5 App HA Setup Overview

I decided to document about the setup of vSphere App HA.  This was mainly due to many roadblocks encountered during the installation.  I was not able to find a proper guide or anyone doing a detail explanation of the setup process.  Also the poorly written documents and documents are all over the place as well. Instructions from the document is also difficult to understand.  I did this many times in my lab to come out with a smooth out process via video and list down all the hiccups you will face. VMware Horizon Workspace Folder and File Sharing Detailed Walkthrough

I have many people asking me how to share or what can I share to a user on Horizon Workspace.  So Here I am going to share with you some screenshot and understand what can or cannot be done. We will be able to have a preview of normal office documents, pictures as well as PDF files in Horizon Workspace.  However if its a unknown format or files that cannot be display per se e.g. zip files, it will not be display. Now let's talk about sharing of files and folder. First of all, you are able to share file or folder to outside external parties from your domain.  This enable users to share file with third parties outside the domain.  External party will not be able to install the Horizon Workspace client as his account are not connected to the internal Horizon Workspace server.
