VMware User Group Singapore Conference - The First!

Yes the very first VMware User Group (VMUG) Singapore Conference is happening on 23rd Jan 2015! It came a long way, from the first VMUG meeting held from few members to a large group of members now.  From a meetup every couple of months to almost every month.  As it matures today, it has more and more sponsors/vendors sharing their technology and road map as well as special speakers. Coming the first month of next year (not too long to wait), the very first VMUG SG Conference will be held at Marina Bay Sands.  This is the first time a full day conference been held in Singapore.  There are already many in the States and Australia however this is the very first milestone for Singapore. The agenda is finally out and the speakers are all ready.  You will ...

The android view app have been updated to 1.2. I do not see any significant different from the Tech Preview version but I felt connection was faster. Maybe this was psychological. Will post a review on the loading from a View 5.0 performance.

Here is a test of the performance using an Android tablet connected in the internal network accessing the Desktop via the Connection server. Apology for the lousy video as I did this using my digital camera in order to see the whole desktop experience on the screen.

VMware View Tech Preview app for Android Tablet

Image
VMware has release the View app (Tech Preview) for Android Tablet. I have tested this on Windows XP and Windows 7 using View Manager and also Security Server on VMware View 4.6.  Both works very well. The Android Tablet used here is Asus Eee Pad Transformer.  Below is the picture of a connection made.  It works just like the app on iPad with the mouse pad and multiple finger gestures. Asus Ee Pad Transformer with Honeycomb 3.2 which also comes with a keyboard dock which I have and it looks just like a netbook. Could the future look like this with a simple hardware to access all desktop? With low hardware cost of SGD700 like what I have here a Wifi model.

I have difficulty trying to setup my Yahoo! Mail. Most of the steps I went through succeed however the next time when I am to check my mail again, it will have authentication error. So finally I came across another post and here is the correct setting I have done with. The settings are as followed for manual setup for IMAP. INCOMING SERVER SETTINGS IMAP server - imap.mail.yahoo.com Port - 143 Security type - TLS IMA path prefix - (leave blank) OUTGOING SERVER SETTINGS SMTP Server- smtp.mail.yahoo.com Port - 587 Security type - None (check) require sign-in Hope this helps. Comments if you find there are mistakes.
